 History

The Community Café is situated within the former enterprise centre, which is next door to that was the co-op in Cefn Mawr.  The centre was opened in March 2001, by The Right Honourable Rhodri Morgan, AM, MP, First Minister of The National Assembly for Wales.

In 2003-04 the Café helped to feed some of the men that came to restore Thomas Telfords Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, completed in 1805, it is a great feet of engineering and has world heritage status. A book written at the time recording the restoration of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct Restoration, winter 2003- spring 2004 by Richard J. Turner-Thomas, mentions the Community Café along with other local businesses in the area.

Today the building is well used.  As well as The Café, there is The Clwyd Family History Society and our local Mp has an office upstairs where she is central to the area here.

The Community Café  offers a warm, cheerful and friendly atmosphere to have a cuppa and a chat for everyone who lives, works and visits our village in Cefn Mawr.

The Community Cafe normally only closes for Christmas Holidays, the rest of the year it is open for business.
